COLA for 2027 to be €6.41

Using the national RPI formula, Spunt.mt projects a cost of living adjustment of €6.41 a week for 2027, about €333 a year.

Malta’s Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) is not an arbitrary political decision. It is calculated using an established national formula based on changes in the Retail Price Index (RPI), which measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by Maltese households.

Using this methodology, Spunt.mt projects that COLA for 2027 will be €6.41 per week, or €6.40 depending on the rounding method applied. This translates into an annual increase of approximately €333 for workers receiving the full adjustment.

Weekly COLA increase: €12.81 in 2024, €5.24 in 2025, €4.66 in 2026 and a projected €6.41 in 2027

COLA is intended to help workers and pensioners compensate for rising living costs. However, since it reflects changes in the cost of an average household’s consumption basket, the adjustment may not fully reflect the inflation experienced by every individual household.
